We Have the Power to Make a Change in Weymouth

“For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people’s love and concern for each other.” – Millard Fuller

The face of hunger is not limited to age, race or gender. It is in our schools, neighborhoods and community. Currently, 1 in 10 people in the town of Weymouth deal with occasional to regular hunger, and many of these families have limited to no access to transportation. In a time where there are countless struggles and tragedies that are out of our control, this is one that we have the power to change.

To ensure every family in Weymouth can sit down to a meal together over the holidays, the Weymouth Food Pantry works with community and businesses such as our FAI/PNA family to gather enough food for 1,100 Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. For every $10 donated, they can obtain $70 worth of food.

The food and money that you collect and donate during this drive will ensure that these families can focus on each other this holiday season. It has also brought us closer together by working collaboratively for a cause that is close to all of our hearts. It is the start of many great things that we can do together in both business and in service to our community.

The Weymouth Food Pantry is a neighbor-to-neighbor grassroots project aimed at ensuring food security for economically-distressed families. Their programs include:

  • A community gardening project
  • Doubling SNAP dollars at the local farmer’s market
  • Deliveries to a local homeless shelter
  • Helping people with disabilities
  • Supporting the elderly
  • A backyard gardening program
  • A satellite program operated in partnership with churches, community centers, and schools around town.
